For almost two decades, pianist/vocalist Eric Byrd, bassist Bhagwan Khalsa, and drummer Alphonso Young, Jr., have traveled the world as enthusiastic ambassadors of jazz. Rooted in swing and be-bop, the trio also embraces gospel and the blues as core elements of their expansive performance style.

The Nutcracker | Dec. 16, Dec. 17, Dec. 18, Dec. 21, Dec. 22, Dec. 23

This year the Avalon is proud to present “The Nutcracker: A New Musical” as its holiday fare.  This “new musical” is a 2007 release which originated in Chicago and is based upon the original classic story by ETA Hoffmann.  In this fantasy tale, featuring interactive sets, music and dance and over 40 actors, Clara and The Nutcracker, along with some very special friends struggle against The Rat King and its minions to save Christmas before it is too late.  And it’s getting awfully, awfully late!!!

Bring the entire family and celebrate the holidays at The Avalon!!  This new rendition of the classic story is guaranteed to leave smiles on the faces of both the young and old this holiday season!!

For the last seven years, The Avalon Foundation has put on a community holiday play that features some of Talbot County’s most impressive thespian talent as well as giving the extreme novice (ages 4 to 74) their first opportunity to perform in front of large audiences around the holidays.  Cumulatively the cast has grown to over 300 community residents and the number of those residents who have enjoyed the holiday show as spectators has reached over 10,000.  Very high in production value, this event has become the biggest fundraiser for the Avalon Foundation!!
