Danny Burns Band—hailed as the “new D.C favorite”—has been touring since the age of 17, learning his craft on the road after leaving his hometown in Ireland to play and live in New York, Nashville, New Orleans and Chicago.
Burns’s influences not only come from his traditional upbringing, but also from legendary singer/songwriters such as John Martyn, Van Morrison, Richard Thompson, and Christy Moore. He’s also recorded and performed with legendary New Orleans musicians George Porter, Jr. (The Meters) and Mean Willie Green (Neville Brothers Band, Bob Dylan).
Closer to his roots, some of the Irish groups that Burns has performed with include The Hot House Flowers, Kila, Damien Dempsey, Paddy Casey, Slide, Solas, and Karen Casey.
Scheduled for release this fall, Burns is adding finishing touches to his new record which will feature some of his favorite players. Singers and songwriters on the album will include Sam Bush, Tim O'Brien, Jerry Douglas, Holly Williams, Tift Merritt, Mindy Smith, Dan Tyminiski, and Cara Dillon.
